Giving away a boatload of free in-game currency to players may seem like a good idea to entice players to play a game. Of course, it also comes with the risk of ruining the in-game economy especially for one that’s just starting out. Sega apparently realized this and will be making changes to the Xbox Game Pass Ultimate Perks package for Phantasy Star Online 2, which is currently in open beta exclusively on the Xbox One.
“We deeply apologize for the inconvenience you might have experienced. However, to ensure a healthy in-game economy and that the game remains enjoyable to all players for years to come, we are effecting some changes to the rewards offered in this program moving forward.”
The original package contained an exclusive Xbox-themed outfit, Xbox-themed emotes, a 30-day premium subscription, a Mission Pass Gold Ticket, 12 Arcs Cash (AC) Scratch Tickets, and 1,000,000 Meseta Crystals. The new version replaces the Meseta Crystals with a variety of consumables instead, including Grinders, EX-Cubes, and Photon Spheres.
The original pack has been suspended until the new one comes out on March 31st. If you’ve already redeemed a code, you can still claim the old rewards until maintenance starts on the 31st. You can visit the Phantasy Star Online 2 official site to learn more.
